Hollingbury TTC hosted the Brighton League Handicap event on Sunday March 5th at Bevendean. The competition attracted 19 players which made it possible to have four singles groups as well as a knock out doubles draw.
The singles competition was won by Mick Reiss who came through a tough final beating Jack Churcher from Lancing in five sets. Mick had managed to edge past Peter Bartram in the semi final, so all in all a good effort indeed. He is not necessarily accustomed to this kind of tournament as he did enquire “do I win any money ?”
The doubles event saw Diane Mynors and expectant dad James DaCosta winning another close contest.
This was organised very nicely by Jim Skinner and ensured that everybody got in a good amount of play over the four or five hours. Our club provided ten of the players of which three of them came away with winners trophies and plaques.
Fun was had by all.
