Hollingbury TTC - Schools Development plan 2006/2007

In partnership with Brighton City Council, Dorothy Stringer Sports College and the Local Network Fund, Hollingbury Table Tennis Club would like to start a project to provide access and opportunities for many children and young people to the sport of Table Tennis.

The proposed project would offer the chance for up to 20 Primary, Junior and Special schools to access regular Table Tennis activities during out of school hours time through securing the expertise of an ETTA qualified Table Tennis coach who would be available during the afternoon and early evening to run after-school sessions.

On a termly basis, a cluster of Primary Schools will be invited to a Table Tennis Festival where Hollingbury Table Tennis Club volunteer coaches and young newly qualified leaders will run a fun skills circuit festival and a come and try session at Bevendean Primary School.

Through consultation with the Brighton and Hove City Council and planning of this project with Dorothy Stringer Specialist Sports College, the three clusters of Junior and Primary schools that the partnership has identified initial demand for Table Tennis in are as follows:

  • Falmer School Cluster
  • Patcham School Cluster
  • East Brighton Cluster

We hope that this project will provide a really good Table Tennis experience that can enthuse as many children as possible to continue to play sport, to attend after-school clubs and in-turn become members of a safe and friendly community club -the school - Club link.

Falmer School Cluster Festival

On Monday 27th March, Hollingbury TTC were paid a visit by four schools from the Falmer High School cluster for a great afternoon of Table Tennis fun!

Following on from a four week block of coaching in each of the schools, HTTC's new super coach Christine Wicks 'managed' a fantastic festival of Table Tennis for thirty eight (38!) years 4 and 5 kids.

Backed up by great support from the club's coaching staff, committee, spouses and also a mum too; the event was a great success!
